"Upon Reaching the end of the climb, I managed to find my DuraForce PRO 3 – and was utterly amazed! "
"Having been an owner of the original Kyocera DuraForce PRO and then the PRO 2, I was really excited with the proven durability, increased functionality, and battery life of the new DuraForce PRO 3. I purchased the phone, configured it, and immediately took it on a rock-climbing trip that changed everything.
Unfortunately, my smartphone became unsecured and fell 200 feet straight onto a rock ledge. Then, another 50ft down the adjacent slope. I was shocked and crestfallen.
At the end of the climb, I was actually able to locate my PRO 3 – and was amazed.
While the glass was fractured and the phone didn't power up, it was completely intact and in one piece! Incredible. The battery cover was still secure, with the battery still locked and perfectly in place. I was even able to retrieve my microSD card to transfer all the images I had taken up to the point of the fall. Even after striking a rock ledge at terminal velocity 200ft below, the phone protected all those things.
No smartphone could truly survive a crash that extreme, but DuraForce PRO 3 exceeded my expectations – and I'll be getting another one."

...my DurForce PRO had sat in the desert, out in the open, for an entire year...my DuraForce PRO booted back to life as if nothing ever happened!”
"My wife and I are avid campers and love to ride our 4x4s around the vast deserts of California. On one of my camping trips, I lost my DuraForce PRO smartphone during a ride. I retraced my tracks for about an hour but could not locate my phone. So we sent a text from my wife's phone to mine asking if the phone is found please call the number listed. My wife eventually received a voicemail letting her know my DuraForce PRO was found in Superstition, CA.
We plugged it in, and it came to life – it had been a full year since it was lost! I was already thrilled with the ruggedness of my DuraForce PRO because I have been known to be hard on cell phones. However, after knowing this one had sat in the desert, out in the open, for an entire year, I was even more impressed – brutal 100o+ days of summer, near-freezing winter nights, and occasional rain – but my DuraForce PRO booted back to life as if nothing ever happened!"

Not too long ago, I ran over my Kyocera DuraForce Ultra 5G with a riding lawn mower while cutting the grass. The blades broke the back of the phone, chopped half of the top off, and cracked the screen. That’s all to be expected. But to my surprise, the phone still functions 98%.
Text messages work, the internet works, etc. The only thing that doesn’t work is the speaker. But I can still make phone calls over Bluetooth.
On top of getting run over with the mower, I’ve accidentally soaked it in oil a few times. Then I went to a garden hose and rinsed it off. Mud, grease, dirt, you name it.
You guys have done an exceptional job with this phone. I wish I could send it to you so you can see the abuse it's taken and still keeps ticking. Good job, Kyocera!

Tim P. is a fireman who depends on his Kyocera device to perform flawlessly all day, every day. When Tim dropped his DuraForce PRO 2, he wasn’t too worried – he knew it was incredibly durable and could withstand a lot. But when it was run over by a three-ton fire truck, he wasn’t sure what to expect.
But survive it did! While only suffering a cracked screen, Tim’s ultra-rugged device powered right up as usual and he was able to continue using it without skipping a beat.
When Vincent N. found himself in a life-or-death situation at work, it was his Kyocera device that came to the rescue. He reached out to us to share his story.
As part of his job at Wild Wings Recycle Facility in Woodland, CA, Vincent collects water samples that are tested for California state permit compliance. He's been collecting monthly samples for 20 years without a problem. But when his foot slipped on algae one day and he slid into a pond full of liquid waste, he knew he was in trouble.
Vincent is a good swimmer, but his heavy work gear and the slippery, algae-coated edges of the pond made it impossible for him to swim or grab hold of anything, and it was getting harder and harder to tread water. With no coworkers around, Vincent had to find his own way out.
Vincent reached for his non-Kyocera work phone in his pocket to call for help, but quickly discovered the device was completely broken from water damage.
Vincent remembered he hadn't taken his personal Kyocera phone out of his other pocket when he arrived at work that day. Thankfully, his rugged, waterproof Kyocera Dura Series device was still up and running so he was able to call for help.
"Todd D’s father-in-law dropped his Kyocera DuraXTP in one of his pig pens housing several 250 pound pigs and asked for Todd’s help to find it. How do you look for a phone in 2 to 3 inches of pig waste? The first thing they did was to call the phone. They could hear it ringing! It took another 10 minutes (a total of 40 minutes since it was dropped) but they were able to locate the DuraXTP. It had been chewed and stepped on and was covered in mud…and so much more! Just wanted to know we are very impressed with this product and would recommend it to anybody."
"I have the DuraForce Pro. I am a commercial diver and have lost a lot of phones on the water. They get wet or it's a hot day and my sweat kills the phone. Well yesterday I had a pair of coveralls on over my wetsuit and when I came up between dives I used my phone and put it in my pocket. When I came up from my next dive I remembered my phone was still in my pocket. It had been there at 75 feet deep for 45 minutes.

My husband and I farm and run cattle. Needless to say, we need a tough phone. Last year, he lost his Kyocera phone while on horseback in a wheat field. With the wheat being as tall as it was there wouldn't be any way we could find it, so we thought we would wait until the wheat was cut and the ground was worked. Six months later I went out across the field to see if just by chance I could find it. Well, sure enough there it was face down in the dirt! I couldn't believe it! All of the ports were closed and tight. I went home cleaned it up a little, absolutely no scratches on the screen! A few on the back, but I mean, it survived a combine, and a tractor/implement about 4-5 times! I charged it, and after 6 months of being plowed over, it came on like nothing had happened. It works just fine!

"I wanted to let you know that my Dura XV survived a fall from Disneyland’s Matterhorn ride! It was launched from my shirt pocket at one of the highest points on the ride and was found by Disney’s grounds crew 2 weeks later during their monthly sweep of the area.

Long-time Kyocera customer Allen H. of Lancaster, Texas used and (slightly) abused his DuraXV for more than three years with countless drops, tosses, and dunks in water. Then he ordered DuraXVLTE, Kyocera’s newest device at the time, and decided to get creative, have fun and truly put his old DuraXV to the test. After all, the tagline said “easy to use, fun to abuse”.
First Allen used his truck to run over DuraXV with HIS BIG RIG TIRE, bearing about 4,500 pounds of weight. The device reset itself and turned back on!
Next Allen increased the weight to about 5,500 pounds. DuraXV still powered on when he squeezed the sides a few hours later. Although looking a bit worse for wear, Kyocera’s QA engineers found Allen’s DuraXV still powered up and stayed on, could take photos and play video – and the device keys still worked after all that abuse.
Kyocera has been creating rugged devices that survive – and thrive – in the toughest conditions for more than a decade. The company offers solutions for a wide range of consumers from people like Allen who need a more durable, cost effective device, to first responders who need the latest smartphone designed to maximize the FirstNet network.
